SOCHNI was registered in 2008. (Reg.No.) SOR/BLU/DR/1160/2008-09, SOCHNI was started with a call to serve its individual members in enabling and empowering them to serve the community at large and to protect the professional interests of the Community Health Nurses. The challenges and exciting opportunities have emerged for Community Health Nursing in the twenty-first century with the community becoming the focal point for health care. Community Health Nurse is in a unique position to provide leadership in evolving managed care and integrated health system. The knowledge and skill to assist the client in moving across the health care continuum have been obtained from the past. But the health system has changed rapidly in the past cannot be the only indicator for providing direction in practice – circumstances are new and accordingly we (SOCHNI) must think anew and act anew.
All the trained nurses are eligible for membership provided if they fulfill the following criteria; Should possess a degree or diploma in Nursing and Midwifery. They should have experience in Clinical / Teaching / Research related to community health and should demonstrate an interest in improving the standards of Community Health Nursing.
